Alexander Bone Trio

Alexander Bone - saxophone, Toby Comeau - piano, Joe Lee - bass guitar

Alexander was born in England in 1996 and is a saxophonist, pianist, composer and music producer.

In March 2014, he was the winner of the inaugural BBC Young Musician - Jazz Award, on the saxophone, which was broadcast on BBCFour and BBC Radio3. Alexander has since performed with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and at the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican Centre and the Manchester Jazz Festival. He also made a guest appearance with the Gwilym Simcock Trio at the BBC Young Musician - Jazz Award earlier this year.

Although still a student at the Royal Academy of Music, Alexander's professional career would seem to be well underway.

Ian Shaw, voice, piano

Ian Shaw is noted for his extraordinary, flexible, adventurous vocal style and his ability to re-interpret not only jazz standards but also rock and pop songs.

Ian was born in Wales in 1962. His career as a singer, pianist and songwriter began in the 1980s. By 1997, he had established himself as the UK's top jazz singer and was performing regularly in the USA. Other international appearances have included Canada, Dubai, Belarus, France, Italy and Germany.

Ian has released over 20 well-received albums and was named Best Vocalist at the BBC Awards in 2004 and 2007.

Richmond Jam

This talented ensemble of young, improvising, musicians from Richmond and the Dales, return to provide another feast of original music and jazz standards. Richmond Jam arose out of a workshop at the 2009 Richmond Jazz Festival. Since then, regular workshops - some led by professional jazz musicians - have taken place to help young musicians aged between 12 and 18 years to create their own music through individual and group improvisation. This performance is a showcase of their talent.
