Chris and John have been associated for many
years. The duo provides a feast of interplay,
improvisation and an eclectic repertoire. Both
players make extensive use of looping and other
effects, creating exotic tapestries of sound, almost
orchestral at times, yet can seamlessly switch to

RICHMOND JAM / DALES JAM
with Richard Ormrod & James Mainwaring
This concert brings together Dales Jam, the community
big band based in Skipton, and the young improvising
musicians of Richmond Jam under the direction of
multi-instrumentalist, arranger and composer, Richard
Ormrod, with featured soloist, James Mainwaring, the
cutting-edge saxophonist of Roller Trio.
The first set will feature soundtracks composed by the musicians to accompany early black and white short films from the Yorkshire Film Archive, including ‘Easter at Shipley Glen’ and ‘West Riding’ which contains footage of Richmond and other local areas of beauty.
In the second set, Dales Jam will draw upon its exciting and joyful repertoire of world
music and jazz standards.
Richmond Jam will take you on a journey into the unknown powered by high-octane fuel with a selection of jazz standards and eccentric originals.
